Summer's here!

Hi Everyone, hope you are enjoying the sunshine wherever you are.  In England at the moment the temperature is hitting 28 degrees which means everything in my dollshouses that is stuck on with tacky wax has now fallen down.  This includes all the mirrors and paintings in the Georgian house, one of which came crashing down onto my Stokesay Ware china and managed to bounce across the room knocking over a rocking chair in the process!  Fortunately nothing was broken.

The last room to show you in my French house (or should I call it my Frenglish house?) is the main bedroom.  For this house you might recall I didn't really plan the furniture like in the Georgian house, it was more that I had some lovely pieces and needed somewhere to display them and this little house was perfect for that purpose.  Here's a particular item that I bought for no reason other than that I loved it so much - the black metal bedstead from Jane Newman...

the bed has hand painted floral medallions at each end, with silk embroidered bedcover, bolster and scatter pillow in a very delicate ivory with pink touches.  Here's a close up...

the pine chest of drawers, mirror and bedside cupboard are also by Jane Newman...

The hairbrush, comb and hand mirror are all real silver and made by Ken Palmer and look at the little dragonfly brooch, it's gorgeous and so tiny...

On the bedside cupboard is a jam jar full of spring flowers and a little ceramic dish that I made at a workshop run by Val Casson...

In the corner is a Lloyd Loom chair.  It does not have a proper padded cushion base so at the moment I have put a cushion made by a friend there which gives it a very homely feel...

And here's an 'ariel' shot so you can see how it all comes together...

Bye for now x
